Glossy Wooden Floor
For dining rooms sunrooms libraries studies and bedrooms a high gloss wood floor finish defines the wood grain and gives darker stains more pizzazz.
Glossy wooden floor. 100 gloss the highest level of shine possible. This allows the first coat of gloss to grip the second coat so it does not flake or peel off. The sheen measures how shiny or glossy your floor s finish is.
The more sheen in your hardwood floor finish the greater level of detail and drama displayed. Scuff the floor lightly using sand paper after you allow the first gloss coat to dry for 24 hours. The luster level is determined by how much light is reflected off the floor from a 60 degree angle consistent with how the floors are viewed while someone is standing on them.
Different people have different preferences. 50 gloss a high sheen. If the gloss on your wood floor is so shiny that it looks fake and maybe even is too slippery to be safe refinish it with a low gloss polyurethane which provides the same protection but is less reflective.
The glossier you go the more light reflects off the floors. Gloss levels from 50 to 100 have very pronounced sheen and create a sleek modern result. Gloss finishes are suitable for areas with less foot traffic like a study or small indoor porch.
If the hardwood is a darker wood like mahogany cherry or oak the grain will be enhanced and stand out magnificently. But sometimes it gets too much of a shine. It offers an elegant finish that appeals to a certain decor.
A high gloss tends to be more formal.
